1. Understand the Trade-offs

Moving to the API means you lose access to the standard WhatsApp Business app on your phone. All messaging must happen through a platform like WaveChat. You will also lose your chat history from the app.

2. Delete the Existing Account

To migrate, you must completely delete the WhatsApp account associated with the number on your phone. Just uninstalling the app is not enough; you must go to Settings > Account > Delete my account.

3. Register on the API

Once deleted, immediately start the embedded signup process in WaveChat. The number is now free to be registered on the Cloud API. Your customers won't notice the transition, and they will still be able to message you.
